As with many recent shifts in business processes and practices, the pandemic initially sparked the idea of an online store. Our usual in-home consultation ability was reduced, so we decided to offer our products in a different way to mitigate the number of times we enter a client’s home while maintaining our standard excellence in quality. As a result, creating an online solution became a priority for the Specialty team.
Shop for Drapery at Your Own Pace, On Your Own Time, In Your Own Home
Many people don’t realize the price discrepancy between custom drapery and drapery bought off the shelf. Specialty Select allows clients to shop and become familiar with pricing before speaking with us. Clients can also order samples from their homes, so they no longer need to come to the showroom to see and touch the fabric options they’re considering. An additional benefit is that clients can shop when it’s convenient for them.
We’ve also noticed a market trend of people preferring to tackle home improvement projects themselves. Homeowners don’t necessarily need assistance when selecting products or even during the installation process. In the past, we differentiated ourselves by our personal touch and customer service. While of course we’ll continue to offer that hands-on experience to clients who value that aspect of our service offering, we also want to cater to the preferences of our more independent shoppers. If they realize afterward that they need a hand from a professional installer, we are more than happy to help finish the job.
What’s Next for Specialty Select?
For phase two of our online store, we plan to add all of our private label trims and fabrics so that online shoppers can buy both of those products by the yard. We also plan to add our wallcoverings and pillows to the online store selection in the future. Ultimately, our complete product offering will be available for purchase online.
